In case you did not know, syphilis has different stages. It is a sexually-transmitted disease brought about by a bacterium that is usually transmitted through sexual intercourse.
Once a person contracts the syphilis infection, he or she enters the first stage of this STD. Those that get the infection may not manifest the symptoms for some time, even up to a few years.
The common symptom that appears in the early stage of syphilis is one or more sores that are small and painless. This sore will disappear after some time, by itself, and as a result of that, a lot of people neglect it and think it is not something to be taken seriously.
In the second stage of syphilis, rashes will begin to appear on different parts of the body. These occur alongside some other symptoms such as a sore throat, fever, muscle ache, headache, hair loss, genital lumps, swelling of the glands, and exhaustion.
At this point, it is very crucial to get a syphilis test and receive treatment before the more severe complications occur.
If a person fails to still get a syphilis test at this stage, he or she may get stricken with problems in the brain, liver, joints, nerves, and bones. He or she becomes at risk for blindness, numbness, dementia, paralysis, stroke, membrane inflammation, and poor muscle coordination.
