The Chlamydia infection is one of the most common sexually-transmitted in the United States. It is caused by the Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria.

Here are some common Chlamydia symptoms:

In Females

strange discharge from the vagina or rectum

pain in the vagina or rectum

Chlamydia infections in men that are not treated at the earliest chance may result in an inflammation of the urethra and this condition is known as urethritis. This can lead to infection of the testicles, bladder infection, prostrate infection, and epididymitis.

Chlamydia infection in women that is not treated right away may eventually lead to soreness of the cervix. The can spread to the fallopian tubes and uterus and cause PID or pelvic inflammatory disease. This could also bring about infertility and ectopic pregnancy. If the woman is pregnant, the baby could suffer from conjunctivitis and pneumonia as a result of the infection.
These are some reasons why testing is so essential to anyone who is sexually active.

Chlamydia testing is necessary to accurately diagnose Chlamydia. Those that receive a positive test result for Chlamydia should see a doctor to know what the best antibiotic treatment for them is.
