Having a sexually transmitted disease is like saying that you are not careful in choosing your partner and that you failed in that area. There are some people who always find it challenging and rewarding to do one night stands and have multiple partners but these behaviors also increase the risk of having sexually transmitted diseases. If you know you are at risk of having any sexually transmitted disease or you are being exposed to sexually transmitted infections, you better get checked as soon as possible. There are a lot of sexually transmitted diseases out there but the three sexually transmitted infections I feared the most are the following:

sexually transmitted disease

Chlamydia is considered as a minor sexually transmitted disease but its popularity makes me cringe at the mention of this infection. Chlamydia is very widespread that most people with this infection don’t even know they have it, leading to more infections after having sexual contact with their partners. Chlamydia infection happens when an infected person had anal, oral or vaginal sex with his or her partner. Women are the one that mostly suffers from Chlamydia. Women suffering from this infection often experience unusual vaginal discharge and feeling pained when urinating. When left untreated, this can lead to serious reproductive system complications like infertility. It can also lead to inflammation of the pelvis and fallopian tube so women getting infected with Chlamydia can really suffer a lot from it.

Syphilis is another sexually transmitted disease that I fear. I fear syphilis because it is so dormant that you won’t even know you have it until it reaches the critical stage. This infection is one hard infection to diagnose and it takes a few test to determine if you really have it some of the other infections. Syphilis is the result of having Treponema Pallidum bacterium entered your body through vaginal and oral contact. This bacterium causes symptoms that are often associated with other infections, making doctors and patients to think that the patient has a milder sexually transmitted disease. Among the common symptoms of syphilis are bumps and sores that are too small and painless hence people who got it just ignore it. When left untreated, syphilis can lead to neurological problems, blindness and even heart problems that cause death.

The third sexually transmitted infection that I am afraid of is HIV. When HIV is left untreated, it can develop into AIDS and AIDS can cause death. Although there are treatments available now for AIDS patients, these treatments can only increase the quality of life of the AIDS patient but don’t cure the illness at all. AIDS is a lifelong disease and if you are unlucky, it can lead to early death. I am afraid of this sexually transmitted disease because it is expensive to treat hence if you don’t have money, then you are facing the earlier sentence. In addition, people with AIDS have been stereotyped causing more AIDS patient to shrink back and just stay in one corner and die of depression and anxiety.
