Many sexually-transmitted diseases are caused by bacteria. These particular types of STDs are not the same as those that are caused by parasites, yeast, viruses, and other things.

To know more about STDs caused by bacteria, I have decided to choose two of the most common of them and provided a brief description of how each one is transmitted, how each one is caused, what the symptoms of each one are, and how each one can be treated.

Chlamydia

Chlamydia is a common sexually-transmitted disease caused by the bacterium called Chlamydia trachomais. It can be transmitted from one person to another through sexual intercourse. People who have sex, whether anal, vaginal, or oral, with a Chlamydia-infected person will also get infected with Chlamydia once the bacteria finds its way inside their genitals and travel to the rest of their reproductive organs.

Most people who contract Chlamydia do not manifest any visible symptoms for some time, so there is a big chance that their Chlamydia situations will be left undiagnosed. Because of this, a lot of people only realize that they have Chlamydia once the symptoms start to show in the later stages of the disease. It is important to get tested for Chlamydia as soon as they can so that the right treatment can be given to them.

Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is another sexually-transmitted disease caused by bacteria. It can also be transmitted through vaginal, oral, or anal sex. Just like Chlamydia, it may take a few days before the symptoms start to show, so it is important to observe the proper measures so as to avoid spreading the disease.

Some of the common symptoms of gonorrhea include painful and burning sensation during urination, sore throat, the need to urinate more often than usual, and strange vaginal/penile discharge. If gonorrhea is untreated, the infection can reach the fallopian tubes and result to pain in the lower abdominal area and fever.

Treatment

Both Chlamydia and gonorrhea patients are prescribed with antibiotics to cure their diseases. If you suspect that you have either one of these STDs, it is crucial that you get an STD test in order to determine your real health condition. There are several local health clinics and STD centers that conduct STD tests so that people like you can avail of them more conveniently. STDs do a lot of damage to a person’s body so it is necessary to get an STD test as soon as the bacteria enter the body.
