Do you know that there are different types of STDs around today? This is true, and each of them is caused by various organisms. Some are brought about by bacteria, and examples of these STDs are gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and syphilis, while others are caused by viruses, such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV. The rest are caused by protozoa and other types of microorganisms.
Once you get infected with an STD, there are symptoms that may manifest after a number of days, weeks, or months from first exposure. Here are the most common of them:
1. Flu-like symptoms
These may be headaches, sore throat, fever, and so on. Many STDs have these symptoms and people who experience them usually think at first that they only have the flu. Not a lot of them right away think about having the possibility of an STD.
2. Genital itching
Some STDs may cause itchiness in the penis, vagina, or around them. If this happens, go see a doctor right away to get tested.
3. Swollen lymph nodes
This is another symptom that is common to many STDs. If you experience this, do not hesitate to consult a doctor immediately.
4. Odd genital discharge
Our genitals discharge some natural bodily fluids, but if you have an STD, the discharge can take on a different color --- brown, yellow, or even red. So, if you notice anything strange, get tested right away.
5. Abdominal pains
This is more common among females who have STDs.
