HIV

As some of you may already know, HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. Human because it affects only human beings, immunodeficiency because it primarily attacks your immune system causing the body to shut down eventually, and virus because the virus can reproduce itself by taking over another cell in the body. The symptoms, at least the primary ones, of HIV infection are no different than those of the flu, for example, like fever, diarrhea, coughing, pain in the joints, swellings in the mouth and on your body and more. The only difference is that our immune system gets rid of those smaller viruses effectively, which is not the case with HIV apparently and unfortunately. It seems to be more resilient than other viruses attacking out body and it is hard to fight it.

AIDS

AIDS stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, acquired means that it is not hereditary, not something that you can get from your parents, for example, immunodeficiency is a weakened immunity system, and syndrome means that it is a vast collection of symptoms and conditions that need to be treated. AIDS is the last stage of HIV virus, and there is no going back after this one, unfortunately. There are aggressive medical treatments for this disease, but those treatments only make the virus contained, it never really leaves your body. If you think that you might be infected with human immunodeficiency virus or HIV, the best way to be sure is to get tested for it. Prepare yourself for a range of questions about your health and your sex life, as those are the things that your doctor needs to know before you test yourself for this virus. There is a possibility that you might not have HIV, but some other sexually transmitted infection, like syphilis, chlamydia or gonorrhea, because the first symptoms of HIV infection coincide with the vague symptoms that occur after a few weeks when a person is infected with chlamydia, or gonorrhea for example. One of the easiest way to find tests, if you are from a small place and your doctor doesn’t have the tests for this kind of diseases at the moment, is to look online for HIV test places locator or some other locator which will help you find the place where you can do the test. We can say that Aids is the modern plague, because more and more people get infected nowadays, by practicing unsafe sex, having multiple partners, use drugs or working in the sex industry, which is a hazard of its own. Since its beginnings in 1981, AIDS has been responsible for more than million deaths in the USA, and that number is still growing today, because people do not pay attention to other people’s health and their own, while we’re at it, which is dangerous enough for you and your environment, and all the raising awareness campaigns have a great message to deliver, but that message is still not heard properly, especially by younger generations.
